Water Hammer Notes |
The flow rate is controlled by the extent of tilting or depression of the nipple. The flow is a result of the design of the internal surfaces which reduces the number of part and avoids the need for hollow nipples and diversion boots. In the illustration [right] the valve is easily operated by finger tip even at 60 psi as shown. This is not a recommendation to use high pressure which is unnecessary and counter productive but it does illustrate the clean delivery possible even at high pressures. |

| QUENCH-IT FOR PIGS! Grower pigs using the 'QUENCH-IT' valve in a research piggery. This pig is using its tongue to tilt the nipple with little water wastage. Each animal develops it's own technique however. All components are captive therefore no parts can be lost to the effluent pits or drains. |

| QUENCH-IT FOR DUCKS! Ducks make an awful mess of water supplied in containers. The 'QUENCH-IT'provides clean water on demand. This is a very large potential application enabling clean water to be delivered to these birds very simply and cost effectively even in backyards. |

| QUENCH-IT FOR DOGS! Candy the Fox Terrier quickly learned to tilt the nipple with her tongue to drink. Clean water provided on demand without fouling. This beats filling and cleaning dishes several times a day - when you remember to! This is the best position for most animals ie. 45 degrees down which reduces wastage. Water is always automatically available even when you are away. |

| Please Note: All animal watering valves must be isolated by an air gap such as are used in water closets or similar devices. This acts as a pressure reduction device which conserves water and guards against contamination of the mains. |
